Golden Gate Hikers, established 1970, is a hiking club for all who love the outdoors, companionship and the cooperative spirit of hostelling. We hike locally almost every Sunday and lead several overnight trips a year.
Hikes meet on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. at 2209 Van Ness Avenue (near Broadway) in San Francisco, unless otherwise indicated below. S.F. Muni buses 42, 47, 49 Van Ness or 76 Marin Headlands, or walk from 1 California or 30 Stockton.
One-dollar trip fee for day trips. No reservations necessary. Non-members welcome. Travel costs vary, as noted below. Dirvers always appreciated on carpool hikes; carpool fee payable directly to driver at the time of the trip. Transit fares listed are round-trip.
Wear hiking boots, or other comfortable shoes, and layered clothing. Pack a daypack with lunch and a quart of water or other liquid.
Do you have some favorite hikes you'd like to share? Or, maybe you've come along on our hikes so often you could lead them yourself. We'd like to be able to offer trips every week, but we need your help. For information on how to become a Golden Gate Hikers trip leader, call Karl at 415.826.2069.
