It’s true! You can win prizes for taking pictures in beautiful places!

America’s Federal Recreational Lands are launching a new photography contest open to all visitors of national parks, national forests, wildlife refuges, and recreational lands throughout the United States. The winning photo will be featured on the 2008 Federal Recreational Lands Pass, which provides access to all participating Federal sites where entrance and standard amenity fees are charged.

The "Share the Experience" Photo Contest is sponsored by the National Park Foundation and Casio on behalf of the five Federal Land Management Agencies. Casio’s support allows the agencies to offer this year’s outstanding photographers a chance to win trips to America’s Federal Recreation Lands, a Ford Escape Hybrid SUV, Casio digital cameras, and other prizes.

Searching for that award-winning shot? The Redwood National Park Hostel, Point Reyes Hostel, Marin Headlands Hostel, and San Francisco Fisherman’s Wharf Hostel are all located within federal recreational areas. Make one of them your base camp, then just step outside, where you’ll be surrounded by the beauty and history of some of the country’s most picturesque protected lands.
