Guided night hikes for groups now available at the Marin Headlands Hostel

Groups of eight or more who stay at the Marin Headlands Hostel can now add a two-hour night hike — led by a professional naturalist — to their itinerary.

Watch the sunset with 360-degree views of the Marin Headlands and the coast, then venture without flashlights through twilight and darkness, relying on other senses to experience the world around you. Smell the eucalyptus and the salt air, and listen to the frogs chirping, seals barking, and waves breaking on the beach. You’ll encounter nocturnal animals and, depending on time of year, you may see bio-luminescent marine life or a full moon.

Naturalists can even tailor the hike to your interests by providing interpretive information about stars, plants, wildlife, and habitat, or by leading sensory-awareness exercises.

You pick the time (naturalists are available between 4-10 p.m.) and let us know how many hikers you’ll have (one naturalist is provided for every 16 people), and we’ll do the rest! The cost is $8 per person; hikes must be arranged in advance, when you reserve your overnight accommodations.

Other options offered to groups at HI-Marin Headlands include:

  • Catering services
  • Private meeting space rental
  • Exclusive use arrangements for either or both of our historic buildings
  • Educational programs for youth or adults

The Marin Headlands Hostel accommodates groups of all types for conferences, retreats, reunions, school outings, and more.
