Walking tours and pub crawls now available at the Sacramento Hostel

The Downtown Sacramento Partnership is now offering a variety of walking tours and pub crawls for guests at the Sacramento Hostel.

The $10 tours are available seven days a week, in a range of themes that encompass over 150 years of Sacramento’s rich history.

Rock and Roll History Tour and Pub Crawl
Journey into Sactown's lively music history, complete with mischievous rock and roll stories and a taste of the city's connection to The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, The Grateful Dead, Nirvana, and more. (Ages 21+ only)

Tales of the Central City
Stroll through Downtown Sacramento for 60-90 minutes on a 1.2-mile tour covering 17 city blocks. Participants leave with a deep understanding of Sacramento history and plenty of juicy secrets (like why Nirvana left footprints in The Crest Theatre basement!).

Structural Stories
Peruse the ages of architectural history right in Downtown Sacramento as you feast your eyes upon the Renaissance-style Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, grand Victorian-era mansions, the graceful Art Deco shapes of the Crest Theatre, and more.

Old Sacramento Speakeasy Tour
Mosey on down to Old Sacramento's underground watering holes every third Saturday from 5:30-8 p.m. Visit historical speakeasies to imbibe and learn fascinating tidbits about the people and events that shaped Sacramento's early reputation as one of the "wettest cities in the union." (Ages 21+ only)

Art Is All Around Us
Explore the stunning art of Downtown's West End during an hour-long walk. Encounter Sacramento's first public art piece -- the Gold Rush fountain, a collaborative piece created by Centro de Artistas Chicanos -- and much more while engaging in dialogue about the meaning of public art.

Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
Meander through Sacramento's rich, and sometimes dark, history of development. Travel back in time to the days when Sacramento was known as New Helvetia, through the bustling Gold Rush boomtown era, and finally to the modern city with small town charm we see today.

The Art of Terra Cotta
This one-mile tour highlights the contribution of the California-based Gladding McBean studio which, since 1874, has created terra cotta tiles, pipes, and sculpture for structures around the world. Discover terra cotta as an architectural art form and wonder at the many downtown buildings that showcase this gorgeous turn-of-the-century technique.

Please note that the Speakeasy Tour and Rock and Roll Pub Crawl may be cancelled if there are less than 15 participants; for all other tours, no minimum participation is required (so fear not, solo travelers!). The $10 fee is paid in cash directly to your guide.
