I was just at the Point Loma hostel in San Diego. I wasn't all that impressed. Kinda run-down, the staff aren't highly available, and they didn't even inform me of some of the basics (where stuff was, check-out, etc.). When it comes to activities, you're on your own. They had a book of things to do in SD, but no tours or anything.
Thanks for the tip about the SF City Center Hostel. I'm headed there next.
