Where

Point Reyes Lighthouse Visitor Center

Experience the Point Reyes Lighthouse as many keepers have over the years, watching as the lighthouse's beacon shines over the sea.

This popular ranger-led tour is available Thursdays to Mondays, from mid-April through December. Start times vary depending on sunset.

If You Go

Stay at the Point Reyes Hostel, the only lodging within the park.

Please Note

Wear very warm clothes and bring a flashlight. High winds will result in program cancellation. The lighthouse will close early, at 2:00 pm, Thanksgiving day and Dec. 24.

Cafe Franco at HI-SF Fisherman's Wharf

Each Sunday night, HI-Fisherman's Wharf will show a movie filmed in SF. Head to the hostel's on-site Cafe Franco and munch on free popcorn while you watch a movie from the City by the Bay - and look out over the Bay at the same time!

San Francisco City Center Hostel

Sunday evenings we offer a homemade veggie-Indian dinner. A tribute to the Hare Krishna movement in San Francisco's 1960's and 70's, as well as our large Indian population. Enjoy classic Indian films projected on our lobby screen, while tasting the many flavors of our Indian Supper of Love!

The dinner is $2.00 donation, which goes to Glide Memorial Church for their meals program.

This event is open only to guests of the San Francisco City Center Hostel.

Spend some time helping to restore a re-created Coastal Miwok Village. The village gives visitors a glimpse into the world of pre-European California. Work constructing and maintaining structures, gathering natural materials, clipping brush, trimming trees, and more.

This event takes place in a different SF neighborhood each month

San Francisco's Sunday Streets is modeled after the Colombian tradition of Ciclovia, which means "bike path" in Spanish. Every Sunday in that country, more than 70 miles of roads are closed to cars and 1.5 million runners, walkers, skaters, and cyclists hit the streets.

In 2008, San Francisco brought Ciclovia to the city, closing off selected roads on two Sundays. The events were a big success, drawing 30,000 people. This year, varying streets will be closed every one Sunday a month from March through October. (Usually the 2nd Sunday.)

A secret jewel of the Bay Area, Point Bonita is still an active lighthouse maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard. Discover Point Bonita's wild landscape, geology, and fascinating history.

The lighthouse is reached by a half-mile trail, with a tunnel that is open only on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays, from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. Point Bonita docents are on hand along the trail, and the setting offers breathtaking views.
